Why Every Ingredient Is in FolliCel™

Nothing is here just to make the label longer.

Every active ingredient in FolliCel was selected for specific jobs related to thinning and changing hair. In many cases, several ingredients could have filled the same role. We selected the ingredients we believed offered the best combination of clinical evidence, meaningful dosage, tolerability, complementary functions, broader health value, and fit within the complete formula.

Many ingredients also work in more than one part of the hair-support system—and that overlap is intentional. FolliCel was designed around complementary and synergistic functions: ingredients that reinforce one another and create a 1 + 1 = 3 approach.

Hair can be influenced by androgen activity, stress and cortisol, oxidative stress, inflammation, circulation, nutritional status, scalp health, cellular activity, and the raw materials required to build strong keratin fibers. FolliCel addresses those areas with ingredients chosen to do more than one useful thing whenever possible. The broader benefits researchers have studied for these ingredients extend well beyond hair.

Here is why each ingredient earned its place—and what else it has been studied for.


Saw Palmetto Extract

Roles in FolliCel: Androgen/DHT-related follicle support, healthy hormone balance, and support for hormonally influenced thinning

DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is part of normal androgen biology. In people with androgen-sensitive follicles, DHT activity is an important factor associated with progressive changes in the hair follicle.

Saw palmetto was selected to support healthy DHT metabolism and androgen balance, giving FolliCel meaningful support for the hormonal side of thinning in both men and women.

FolliCel uses a saw palmetto extract standardized for fatty acids so its active components are defined and consistent.

Other uses studied for: prostate health, urinary function, male reproductive health, and healthy androgen metabolism.


Full-Spectrum Palm Tocotrienols & Tocopherols

Roles in FolliCel: Hair-density support, oxidative-stress defense, inflammatory balance, follicle protection, and vitamin E antioxidant support

This ingredient earned its place first because tocotrienols have direct human research involving hair count. It also strengthens the broader FolliCel strategy because oxidative and inflammatory stress can affect the environment in which follicles function.

FolliCel uses a full-spectrum palm source that provides both tocotrienols and tocopherols—the major families of vitamin E compounds. These compounds contribute overlapping antioxidant protection and complement pine bark, Vitamin C, selenium, zinc, and copper elsewhere in the formula.

French Maritime Pine Bark Extract

Roles in FolliCel: Scalp circulation and nutrient delivery, nitric oxide support, hair-density support, oxidative-stress defense, inflammatory balance, and follicle protection

French maritime pine bark was selected in large part for its effects on endothelial function, nitric oxide activity, and healthy microcirculation.

Nitric oxide helps blood vessels relax and supports healthy blood flow. In the scalp, that supports the circulation responsible for delivering oxygen and nutrients around the follicle.

Pine bark also provides polyphenol antioxidant activity and support for a healthy inflammatory response, giving it several complementary roles within FolliCel.

Those same vascular effects are among the reasons pine bark has also been studied for energy, physical performance, and sexual wellness.

Sensoril® Ashwagandha

Roles in FolliCel: Stress-response support, healthy cortisol regulation, stress-related hair-cycle support, and inflammatory/oxidative-stress support

Stress is not merely psychological. Chronic physiological stress and disrupted cortisol signaling can affect normal hair-cycle biology.

Sensoril® was selected as a standardized ashwagandha extract with human research supporting reductions in perceived stress and cortisol. By supporting healthy cortisol regulation, it addresses an important stress-related contributor to thinning and changing hair.

Its antioxidant and inflammatory-response activity also complements several other botanical and nutritional components of FolliCel.

Hyaluronic Acid

Roles in FolliCel: Scalp hydration, healthy skin and follicle environment, moisture retention, and support for normal nutrient exchange around the follicle

Hyaluronic acid has an exceptional ability to attract and retain water in the extracellular environment of healthy skin.

FolliCel includes it to help maintain a hydrated scalp environment around the follicle, supporting the tissue in which normal circulation and nutrient exchange occur. This helps maintain the healthy scalp environment that allows the follicle to receive and use the nutritional support provided throughout the formula.

L-Cysteine

Roles in FolliCel: Keratin synthesis, hair-fiber strength, sulfur amino-acid support, and antioxidant/glutathione support

Hair is composed primarily of keratin, and cysteine is one of keratin's particularly important amino acids.

Cysteine supplies sulfur used in the disulfide bonds that give keratin fibers much of their strength and structural integrity. This makes it one of FolliCel's most direct structural building blocks.

Cysteine also participates in glutathione biology, connecting the keratin-building portion of the formula with its broader antioxidant strategy.

L-Methionine

Roles in FolliCel: Keratin synthesis, sulfur amino-acid support, cysteine production, protein synthesis, and methylation support

Methionine is an essential sulfur-containing amino acid and a normal component of protein synthesis.

It complements cysteine because methionine can also serve as a metabolic precursor used in cysteine production. Including both gives FolliCel complementary sulfur-amino-acid support.

Methionine also participates in methylation through SAMe biology, giving it broader metabolic functions beyond hair structure.

L-Lysine

Roles in FolliCel: Keratin and protein synthesis, structural hair support, collagen support, and tissue maintenance

Lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning the body must obtain it through nutrition.

It complements cysteine and methionine by providing another essential building block for healthy protein production. Lysine also contributes to collagen biology and normal tissue maintenance, extending its relevance from the hair fiber to the supporting tissue environment.

Other uses studied for: collagen formation, protein synthesis, tissue repair, calcium metabolism, bone health, and immune function.


Pantothenic Acid — Vitamin B5

Roles in FolliCel: Cellular energy metabolism, follicle nutrition, protein and fat metabolism, and balanced B-vitamin support alongside Biotin/B7

Hair follicles are metabolically active tissues. Pantothenic acid, or Vitamin B5, is required for Coenzyme A biology and participates extensively in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

FolliCel pairs B5 with Biotin/B7 as part of a deliberately balanced B-vitamin approach. The formula provides both nutrients in measured amounts to support their complementary roles in cellular metabolism and hair nutrition.

That balance is especially relevant for people who report skin breakouts while taking very high-dose biotin products.

Biotin — Vitamin B7

Biotin, or Vitamin B7, is required for several enzymes involved in fat, carbohydrate, and amino-acid metabolism and is an essential nutrient associated with normal hair, skin, and nails.

FolliCel uses a measured dose alongside Vitamin B5 to provide balanced B-vitamin support. This gives the formula the nutritional benefits of biotin while keeping the overall B-vitamin system in proportion.

Some people report acne or other skin changes while using very high-dose biotin products, making a measured approach especially useful for those who are sensitive to biotin megadoses.

Folate — Vitamin B9, as 5-MTHF

Hair follicles contain some of the body's more rapidly dividing cells. Folate is required for DNA synthesis and normal cell division, making adequate folate biology relevant to normal follicle renewal.

FolliCel uses 5-MTHF, the biologically active form of folate. It complements B12 and methionine within the formula's broader methylation and cellular-support system.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 complements folate in DNA synthesis and rapidly dividing cellular systems.

It is also required for normal red blood cell formation, connecting FolliCel's micronutrient foundation with the circulation and oxygen-delivery systems that support metabolically active tissue.

B12 therefore reinforces several systems already addressed elsewhere in the formula.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is required for normal collagen production, supporting the connective-tissue environment surrounding healthy skin and follicles.

It also contributes antioxidant protection, oxidative-stress defense, and support for a healthy inflammatory response.

Vitamin C reinforces the antioxidant and inflammation-related roles of pine bark, palm tocotrienols/tocopherols, selenium, zinc, and copper while simultaneously contributing a distinct structural function through collagen.

It also improves absorption of non-heme iron from the diet, adding another useful nutritional function to the formula.

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D receptors are present in hair follicles, making Vitamin D biology directly relevant to normal follicular cellular signaling.

FolliCel includes D3 to support normal hair-cycle biology, cellular regulation, and healthy cellular differentiation.

Its immune-regulatory activity also complements the formula's broader support for a healthy scalp and follicle environment.

Zinc

Roles in FolliCel: Normal hair growth, keratin and protein synthesis, cell division, follicle repair, antioxidant defense, and healthy hormone biology

Zinc participates in hundreds of enzymatic reactions and is particularly relevant to tissues requiring active cell division and protein synthesis.

Within FolliCel, it contributes to normal hair growth, keratin and protein production, tissue maintenance, and antioxidant defenses.

Zinc also participates in normal androgen and reproductive biology, complementing the hormonal side of the formula. Its relationship with copper is considered directly in the mineral balance of FolliCel.

Copper

Roles in FolliCel: Zinc balance, connective-tissue support, antioxidant defense, normal hair pigmentation, iron metabolism, and structural tissue support

Copper is required for enzymes involved in connective tissue, antioxidant defense, iron metabolism, and melanin production.

That gives it direct relevance to the structural environment supporting hair as well as normal pigmentation biology.

Its relationship with zinc is one reason the two minerals were considered together during formulation, helping maintain a more balanced mineral system.

Selenium

Roles in FolliCel: Antioxidant defense, oxidative-stress protection, thyroid-related nutritional support, immune function, and normal hair biology

Selenium is required for several selenoproteins, including antioxidant enzymes that help cells manage oxidative stress.

This adds another layer to FolliCel's antioxidant defense system and complements palm tocotrienols/tocopherols, pine bark, Vitamin C, zinc, and copper.

Selenium also participates in normal thyroid hormone metabolism. Because thyroid physiology and hair biology are closely connected, maintaining adequate selenium nutrition adds another relevant layer to comprehensive hair support.
